Photo Of The Day: Surplus To Requirements in Melbourne, Australia

The economic downturn has been felt in Australia during our 2 and 1/2 years in Europe and we have seen more of these “Closing Down” signs in Melbourne than expected. This shop inside one of the lovely arcades is apparently surplus to requirements.

You Can Knit What?

Funny photo of the day today — Knit Kits seen in the window of a museum gift shop in Barcelona, Spain. I’ve seen knitted teapot cozies before, but never a knitted bike seat! And knitted cuffs for your wellies?

Ah well — something for everyone, eh?

Let The Gnome Hold It In Barcelona

Quick photo of the day today — letting a gnome hold things for me today!

This little gnome table was in the window of a home design store in Barcelona. Not only was he rather cute, I also liked the rug behind him made out of small cut-out circles of leather.

Enjoy!

Photo Of The Day: Bright In Blue

Today’s photo of the day is a charming little building in the Midi-Pyrenees town of Seix in the South of France. The blue shuttered and blue painted building houses a hairdresser below and apartments above. This building certainly stood out amongst the other plain stone structures in the small town.

Look at the shop window and you will see a woman sitting and talking on the phone. And to the left of her? A Betty Boop sculpture. Looks like a fun place to get your hair cut. And by the way, ‘Coiffure Mixte’ means Unisex Hair, so they do both women and men’s hair!

Two vivid shades of blue make this hairdresser’s shop stand out in Seix, Midi-Pyrenees, France.
